GHD Information

Keep the old GHD 3, 4 and 5 series and save money in the long run – we only repair these models!

If yours has a ROUND PUSH BUTTON, we do not repair them – New does not mean better!!!

See list of GHD we repair (below), before you call at shop – we also sell reconditioned, when available.

IMPORTANT !
GHD is selling a ‘newer version’ of their old GHD IV Styler, that LOOKS like the old Styler, but it is not! It is not a re-make of the old one as they did.
If it has a round ‘click-to-switch’ button and not a classic slider switch, it is NOT the old one!
We do not repair any other ones but the ones with a slider switch – NOT a round push switch.
Note: the round switch, is actually just a button, that acts as an actuator for the electronics, it is not an actual mains switch – as per all the newer models made after the MK5 !

Who is GHD Repaired?
In 2009 customers from anywhere, started to ask MSelectrical.co.uk to repair their GHD’s – we were already carrying out repairs for many other Electronics Devices.
We saw requests were increasing and we decided to start GHD Repair. Then we decided to dedicate GHD Repair with its on website GHD-Repaired.co.uk to ‘correctly’ inform our customers.

What do I need to do before I have my GHD repaired ?
You must check if your GHD model is listed on our Repaired listing.

Where do I find my GHD full model number exactly?
Find your GHD model number on a label placed on non-switch side, as shown below.

Why do you only repair the models listed below?
These series GHD3, GHD4 and GHD5 were in our view, the best they made and they are 99% of the times repairable, after these we decided not to repair the newer ones.
YES, we do the WIDE GHD SS, SS2, SS4.01, SS4.1, SS5 models only, please check before you bring it in.
We have customers still owning their first GHD3 after 15 years and still going with out repairs!
Spares for newer models are from ‘very limited’ to ‘no spares at all’
If/when available, some are sold at ridiculous price.
Some of them have a controlled Fuse as expensive as £. 12 – a ‘glorified FUSE’

What does ‘Standard’ GHD Repair mean?

  • We repair all electrical/electronics faults on the GHD Repair you paid for – see exclusions below
  • We have not had one case we did not manage to repair any of the listed ones, yet
  • Sometime users tend to keep using their GHD while intermittently working, and that can cause further ‘not initially noticeable’ problems, therefore, as soon as you notice some kind of misbehaviour, please stop using it.
Also for safety reasons and the most common is, intermittently working, crackling (can be dangerous, but fixable).

What our Standard Repair ‘does not’ include

  • controller chip (if it is 3 parts to replace)
  • any mechanical/case/etc.
  • non electrical parts such as plastic body/covers/rims, metal plates and all it parts, etc.
  • ‘blackened’ PCB will ‘not’ be covered by the Standard Repair, 99.9% of the time that happens is, when a repair went wrong, by fitting wrong component and causing a high arching of the mains inside the GHD PCB.
  • PCB that was tampered with – therefore forcing us to spend ‘usually’ double time or more on it.
It generally is repairable and at a small charge may apply. Although, even in these cases, we often do repair it with no added charge, if it did not cause further abnormal problems.
  • the Mains 2-pin to UK plug adaptor – as it is an accessory it is NOT included

If we find it needs any extra ‘non-electrical’ work – i.e. body, covers etc., we will inform you ‘before’ we do anything and supply you with a new estimate.

Thank you for helping a small UK business and also recycling, by repairing your GHD.

Let’s keep them working, recycle and save money!

Although we have not encountered many for a long time, some GHDs are fake/copy/counterfeit and we do not repair them, please BEWARE as there might still be some around.
